By any calculation, traveling is money spinner, stressful, but also exciting. We hardly thought of the stress or the excitement at the beginning of the process, instead we focus more on how best we can maximize our hard earned income to get cheaper fare. No wonder some pay $500, others $700, and many pay more for the same class in a flight.

In my days at Nigerian Medical Association, talking far back to early 90s I had the opportunity to handle travel processes for some executives that were attending international conferences and seminars abroad. What I learned became experience that I today put into practice. Having realized the existence of such incentive by airline operators, I started booking my flight ahead of my travel time. The habit I stated far back Jan 2000, when Afriqiyah airline cut 25% down the normal fare for my air ticket from Tripoli to Niamey is worth emulating if you want to get discount from airlines. I must tell you, have been enjoying similar incentives from other carriers, especially from those who call me regular.

Of cause this customer’s incentive it’s not limited to a particular person or group of persons, neither narrowed to a particular location. It’s a gesture that’s available anywhere the in world. The misconception that status count is not true either, rather, it’s about schedule management. If you can schedule your movement and plan your trip ahead of time, you too can get similar discount and or rebate from your carrier. The amounts of discount offered vary among airlines, but all airlines use time in their calculations. This simply means that XYZ airline may offer 15% discount for travelers who book their flights 30days ahead, and Geokaz airline may offer 20%. An established fact is that majority of airlines offer pocket friendly discount to travelers who book 90days ahead. You could save 50% or more if you can book your flight months ahead of your travel time.
